A Little Tennessee / Eric Berry Wallpaper Action…

I found a really sharp looking Tennessee Wallpaper while putzing around over at which I felt was worth passing along.  This one is a great Eric Berry Wallpaper, which states simply: "See Ball -- Get Ball."  I imagine Joel from RTT will probably end up printing out numerous copies of this one so he can cover the walls of his office.

Anyway, here it is, courtesy of Crusse10 of

In other news, I have not forgotten about my remodeling project -- it continues, just behind the scenes.  One way or the other, everything should begin to change over a bit next week, as I get done with my tweaks and re-design of the Gate.  Hopefully, I'll find a little time to finish the last few things up this weekend .

Of course, I've always been a lazy sort...

New Look for “3rd Saturday in Blogtober”

Shoutin Out | Gate 21

Not to toot my own horn, but for the past little while I've been working with the folks over at 3rd Saturday in Blogtober to develop some new header graphics as part of a facelift going on over there. Today, their new header went live.

3rd Saturday in Blogtober

Make sure to stop on by and let "Ghost of Neyland" and "Crimson Daddy" know what you think. Also be sure to check out the rest of their blog -- dedicated to both the Tennessee Volunteers and the Alabama Crimson Tide (which seemingly defies explanation). They have some great stuff over there and are a real asset to the SEC blogging community.

Oh yeah, and if you don't like the new header, then ... ummm ... I had nothing to do with it.

Shameless Self-Promotion: Gate 21 Graphics

Gate 21 Graphics

For those of you who care (which is probably nobody ...) Gate 21 Graphics now has its own page here at Gate 21 -- The Cultural Center of the Universe. So if you need any graphic design help, want to leave a comment to tell me how much you hate the color orange, or want to threaten me with a lawsuit because Gate 21 is so ugly that you puked on your keyboard, slide on over to the new page for Gate 21 Graphics.

Gate 21 Graphics

As my profile mentions, in addition to running Gate 21 (and practicing law in real life) I also do graphic design, layout and web design. I also do all my own graphics, logos, and banners.  If you are in need of some graphic content (no I don’t mean “explicit”) for your website, organization, blog, company, or just for the hell of it, I work cheap and can do just about anything you need.  I can provide press ready graphics, website logos and art, and most any other type of graphics in .jpg, .pdf, .tif, .bmp, .svg, and numerous other formats. In addition to the silly pictures I post on this blog, I also do farks (photoshop re-touching for the technologically impaired) of photos for people. So if you want a photo with Granny’s head on some porn star’s body… hey, that’s your call.  Like I said, I work cheap (oftentimes for a trade).

In addition to purely graphic design-based offerings, I also do full scale website / blog design based upon customized versions of pre-existing templates.  All blog designs are based exclusively on the Wordpress blog publishing system (but I am happy to do graphics for any format).

Below are a few samples of my design work in this arena for your viewing pleasure -- my "fark" work can be viewed in my museum of farks "The Tennessee Home for the Visually Offensive."  If you are interested in having me design some graphics for your site, blog, company, organization, or for yourself, feel free to email me.  I have a list of rates at the bottom of this page, but these are not set in stone, so feel free to give me a shout if there is something you need.

One of my favorite things to do here at the Gate is to modify the header (the main graphic at the top of site) from time to time based upon whatever is going on in the world around us.

Here are a few headers that have appeared at Gate 21 over time:

Meet Gus…

Well, in case you haven't noticed, I am still in the process of changing the graphics and layout here. I decided to get rid of the "Power T" Flag on the header for a couple of reasons. First, while I do focus on the Vols of Tennessee, my goal is to also cover the SEC and beyond. Thus, in the interest of being a little less partisan, I decided to remove the implication that Gate 21 is about nothing but the Vols. Second, in light of all of all of the "cease and desist" letters that schools and teams have been sending out to bloggers over the last 12 months or so (See Busted Coverage's issues with the Big Ten, and's issues with Mizzou), I decided to remove anything that could lead the University of Tennessee to tell me to can it. While I am all about free and fair use, the fact is that Tennessee would have a pretty easy time demonstrating that I was, essentially, using one of their trademarks. Given the fact that Tennessee had to take Texas to court over the whole "UT Interlock" logo and the "Power T" logo, I imagine that they would be willing to take steps to defend their marks. Furthermore, I don't particularly want to get into an adversarial relationship with my alma mater. No, I'm not surrendering, I still plan on using the "Power T" and other logos where appropriate, I just figured it probably shouldn't be in my header. Besides, it's always better to create your own identity rather than ride on the coattails of others. Meet Gus Thus, I introduce my new "Gate 21 Volunteer," which I designed, and who now lives in the header, and may undergo a little more plastic surgery until I get him the way that I want him. I hope you like him, and -- in case you care -- I'm naming him "Gus" in honor of longtime ... media-type-guy ... at Tennessee, Gus Manning. Why? Well, I'm not sure, except that I've never been clear on what Gus Manning does, but everyone at Tennessee seems to think his opinion is pretty important; in terms of age he's on the older side of "completely indeterminate;" and he's a pretty comical character along with his buddy Haywood Harris. Again, it was the only name I could come up with. Anyway, say hello to "Gus" and let me know if you like him, if you think he needs something else to make his placement in the Gate 21 header make sense. Also, if you'd be interested in having a logo designed for your, blog, website, organization, etc., shoot me an email -- I work cheap. Oh yeah, the BasketVols play Georgia tonight at 7:00. Let's hope for a win. Given the topic of this post, it is obvious that I have little to write about today...
