On Remote: The Big “Blow”
Well, this is the first time I’ve ever tried posting from my Motorola Handheld (a/k/a my phone), so we’ll see how this goes.
Needless to say there was some excitement at the SEC Tournament yesterday as a tornado hit the Georgia Dome in the middle of the game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Mississippi State Bulldogs — leading to an hour and five minute delay and the postponement of the game between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Kentucky Wildcats . Ultimately Mississippi State held on to beat the Tide in overtime, but in the aftermath of the storm that hit Atlanta, the streets and the area around the Dome were wrecked.
Thus, today’s games will be held at Georgia Tech’s Alexander Coliseum — with limited attendance. Only player families, media, bands, and cheerleaders will be admitted. All ticketholders for the remaining games will be given refunds.
This is shaping up to be a truly bizarre SEC Tournament — one which will be remembered for years to come. Since the Kentucky / Georgia game will be held today at 12:00 noon today, the BasketVols game against Arkansas will be delayed until 6:00 pm. Then, the Kentucky / Georgia winner will take on the Arkansas Razorbacks who upset the Vanderbilt Commodores in Friday’s second game.
Update:
Here’s a little video of the Georgia Dome a’rockin in not so good a way, courtesy of Loser With Socks, who says this is clearly just a sign that God hates the Bammers:
For the first time in years, I’m actually glad I’m not at the Tournament…
Don’t Take Your Leg to Town…
This is just a little too strange, and I had to pass it along:
From the Sunbury, Pennsylvania Daily Item:
Woman accused of beating sister with prosthetic leg
IRWIN (AP) _ A Westmoreland County woman has been accused of using her sister’s prosthetic leg to beat her on the head and face.
Police said Donna Sturkie-Anthony, 41, beat her 43-year-old sister, Sherrie Lynn Gibson, on Wednesday. They said they arrived at the pair’s home in the Lincoln Mobile Home Trailer Park after receiving a request for an ambulance after midnight.
Police said they found blood on the floor and around the couch, where Gibson was lying, conscious but bleeding from head and face wounds. Police said Gibson told them her sister had struck her repeatedly with her prosthetic leg.
Sturkie-Anthony, already wanted for previous charges, was jailed in the Westmoreland County Prison on several assault charges relating to the alleged beating. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 25.
According to ESPN Radio, it has been confirmed that — surprise, surprise — alcohol did play a role in the altercation.
I’m just really glad that this happened in a state other than Tennessee…
Batshit Crazy Ex-Beauty Queen Goes on a Rampage!!!

There are more than enough legitimate sports items for me to comment on, however, I am still chasing my ass at present, thus I wanted to pass along this little story about Kumari Fulbright — one seriously whacked out ex-beauty queen who decided to take her ex-boyfriend behind the woodshed. In the process, she kidnapped him, bit him several times, tied him to a chair with plastic ties, put a knife to his ear, threatened to kill him, and held him at gunpoint. Unfortunately for her (but fortunately for the rest of us) the ex-boyfriend escaped, and she has been indicted.

Here’s the kicker — she’s a second year law student at the University of Arizona, who had recently been serving as an intern to a Federal Judge. I remember law school, and it does mess with your head, but this is ridiculous…
As you can see from her mugshot, it appears that she has let her looks go a bit since her modeling days.

Oh well, I’m sure some of those “ladies” at the Arizona Women’s Prison will still tell her she’s pretty…
