For what it is worth, I agree with you that running up the score is oftentimes a sign of poor sportsmanship. That’s one of the reasons I’m not a fan of Urban Meyer. I am glad that Richt didn’t run the score up on a less talented team (and I hope that no one does that to Tennessee this year — which it is quite possible to do). So in that regard, I agree with you.

I guess my big question is that I ranked Georgia No. 1 — because I feel they deserve it at present — so what is your problem with me offering a critique of what I perceived to be a less than stellar game? Sure, I have picked Florida to win the SEC East — largely due to Georgia’s brutal schedule — but Georgia is still first, in exactly the same way that I have LSU ranked ahead of the Auburn squad I have picked to win the SEC West. In all honesty, I hope to hell that Georgia does win the East (because Tennessee doesn’t look like it has much of a chance at present) because I cannot stand Florida. I just think that the Gators get lucky again this year … ugh.

I was making an observation, nothing more, and as for the “weak-minded” nature of my comments, well … I’m hardly the sharpest knife in the box, but you could learn a few things about courtesy in terms of flying off the handle over a single-sentence analysis of a game. Just calm down, breathe deeply, and relax a bit.

It really is a debate about should a team run up the score on the hapless to make themselves look better than they really are, to create an air of invincibility that Mike Tyson once had (the Steve Spurrior mentality), or maybe not look pretty late in games, but get your 2s and 3s some great experience in case of injury later in the season (what CMR does). As a UGA fan, I obviously like my coach and support his philosophy, but I can see why weak-minded people get caught up in big numbers that are really meaningless. I don’t know you from Adam, but you fell into that last trap with your post on UGA… If we are underwhelming and UF is your choice to win it all, put UF first.

That said, I do completely understand what you mean.

As for the Vols. I am less concerned about last night in the abstract than I am with the overall way that offense seemed to operate. Something was just bad wrong, and that bodes poorly for the rest of the season.

It’s interesting that you’re more down on your team than I am. No disputing last night was bad, but UCLA is a mid-tier Pac-10 opponent and Craft could grow into the job. It will be interesting to see if he plays more like the first half or the second half for the rest of the season. Their game in two weeks at BYU will tell us a lot about what sort of miracle-worker Neuheisel is.
