<strong>Big Orange Roundtable - Vol(ume) 6...</strong>

It’s good to be great and powerful.
This week, I, The Great & Powerful MoonDog, teacher of things, will guide the souls of the Big Orange nation down the path of righteousness, where victories are plentiful, especially over the vile creature...

Hoops:
Good catch on "it's" -- you'd think I'd have figured out basic grammar by now ... but then again.

I like the "fake" fake. Good coaching insight of exactly the sort I'm never accused of offering.

As for the rules, I like that sort of approach because it essentially puts the policing responsibility on the team, it's flexible, fair (if done right), and it's simple. Makes sense to me, though, which makes it automatically a bit sketchy.

Q2, Rule 3: <strike>it's</strike> its

The rules are good, though. Very common-sense.

Question 4 is why I believe a team should have a fake "fake" in the book. Think of it this way: what happens when a team lines up in that situation in a regular offensive set and the quarterback spends a lot of time with hard counts and gyrations while nobody on offense moves an inch? Yup, they're trying to draw the defense offside and they're going to call the timeout. Why not run that same exact procedure, but fake the timeout call? The defense is certain to relax a touch once it appears the bluff has been called. If the offense has rehearsed it a time or two, they can easily pull the fake "fake" off well enough to get the jump at the line of scrimmage when the ball is actually snapped.
