I have to confess, when the Vols aren&#039;t playing, I will gladly listen to Munson on XM.  He is a great announcer, even if he does call against my Vols.</description>

The transition from radio to TV has certainly had a major impact on how games are presented, as well shaping our listening expectations.

I think that in particular, Monday Night Football, with its introduction of personality into the broadcast booth, has had an enormous effect on not just football broadcasting, but on all sports broadcasting.

I will mourn Munson when he&#039;s gone, that&#039;s for sure.  I remember being mesmerized by the way he called a game against Kentucky in the late 70&#039;s.  Lewis Grizzard, another Southern icon, referred to Munson&#039;s call of that game as &quot;better than being there&quot;.  I can think of no higher praise.

By the way, as long as we&#039;ve got Uncle Ron calling games, things aren&#039;t completely bleak on TV.</description>
