Good times with the Super Bowl commercials. Since we all have our differences (I would have left off the wassup guys – they annoyed me from the 1st ad), I won’t expound more than that.
The Dana Jacobson piece was an interesting take. I don’t think the timeline on overreacting will be that long, though; ESPN will find plenty of reasons to kiss up to ND besides NJ. Their love affair with ND actually puzzles me a bit; since ND has the contract with NBC until the Apocalypse, you’d think that ESPN wouldn’t be so interested in promoting another network’s main feature. Maybe they figure that nobody actually watches the ND games, and that they can get everybody on the highlights.
Here’s ESPN’s logic tree for teams:
IF (Team_Conference == “ACC”)
INTEREST = “Meh”
BIAS = -0.8
ELSE IF (Team_Conference == “Big East”)
INTEREST = “Who?”
BIAS = -0.5
ELSE IF (Team_Conference == “PAC10″)
IF (Team == “USC”)
INTEREST = “Best Team Ever!”
BIAS = 3.1
ELSE
INTEREST = “Too late at night”
BIAS = 0.0
END IF
ELSE IF (Team_Conference == “SEC)
IF (Team == “Florida”)
INTEREST = “Genuflect to St. Tebow”
BIAS = 2.4
ELSE
INTEREST = “Lip Service”
BIAS = -4.6
END IF
ELSE IF (Team_Conference == “Big12″)
INTEREST = “Choke in Bowls”
BIAS = 0.0
ELSE IF (Team_Conference == “Big10″)
INTEREST = “High”
BIAS = 2.2
ELSE IF (Team_Conference == “MidMajor”)
INTEREST = “Null”
BIAS = -0.2
ELSE IF (Team_Conference == “NotreDame”)
INTEREST = “OMG!!!11!!1″
BIAS = 7.2
END IF
Gah. All those extra spaces to clarify the programming were wasted. Dang.
I love it! It’s perfect!
Gonna have to work that into a post sometime!
I’m just glad you could follow it. I take such pride in making my programming readable. Oh well.
